CJ Mini-Grants to County Multidisciplinary Teams

Annually, county Multidisciplinary Teams are invited to complete an application requesting a mini-grant to improve assessment, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse through the multidisciplinary process in their county. Many counties apply to participate in the International Symposium on Child Abuse conducted by the National Child Advocacy Center in Huntsville. Some counties apply for local training or other initiatives.

Opportunities to apply for CJ mini-grants are announced by the Alabama Department of Human Resources in the fall of each year. Applications utilize the format provided by the CJ Task Force and contain components required to be completed by the County DHR, the Child Advocacy Center covering the county, and the District Attorney. An evaluation of the prior year's project is also a required component. Applications must be signed by the multidisciplinary partners involved in determining the application.

The CJ Task Force reviews the applications and makes decisions about awards by December. Generally, announcements are made by State DHR to the local county DHR Director in January. Local projects must be completed no later than September 30.
